About World Globes

This new designer world globe floor stand is unique among globes. It features the unusual and beautiful three-quarter round walnut toned base. Pictured with the open side, it allows you to display the entire world, North Pole to South Pole and turn the globe 360º for a complete view East to West. Or turn the open side opposite your vantage point and you reveal the classic appearance of a traditional elegant floor stand globe. This National Geographic model is cradled in our gold-toned full metal meridian. Standing a regal 38 inches in height and 20 inches wide, the Brent includes an international time dial, globe booklet and a signed Certificate of Authenticity.

Frank Lloyd Wright (1867-1959) is widely considered to be America’s greatest architect.  He amazed the world with his architectural ingenuity and designs.  His vision encompassed the buildings and residences he designed as well as their landscaping, art glass, furniture, lighting and floor covering — to create a unified whole.  An adaption of one of Mr. Wright’s vase designs developed in 1929 for Leerdam Fabrique in Germany.  The Oberlisk world globe floor stand is made of solid maple and cherry hardwood.  Please check out our Frank Lloyd Wright® Collection.

This world globe stand is an authentic reproduction from a drawing found in the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation archives.  It is an unidentified concept for one of the Prairie Homes that Mr. Wright de-signed in the early 1900s. The only marking on the drawing is in his handwriting and says, “Something like this.” The proportions, and interpretation, of the drawing were calculated based on the scale of other drawings from this time period.
